This is a proof-of-concept so that we can demonstrate multiple websites under a single domain. A single website will be on the root with additional websites setup as sub-folders.
In this instance, WordPress is the main website and e4 is embedded in WordPress. WordPress would be the CMS for the overall site.
This is running on the free version of WordPress which does not allow any custom styling or layouts or plugins.
This is a demonstration of adding shop as a sub-folder to WordPress.
The following would be required to bring this POC to a production-grade implementation:
– WordPress subscription would need to be WordPress Business Plan ($33/mo per WordPress site)
– Google Analytics would be included through a WordPress plugin or encoded into each page in WordPress
– Additionally GA would need to be encoded into e4 pages with tracking codes and account information synchronized to the main WordPress site
– CMS functionality would be separated between the main site and the /shop folder
– CMS for main site is coming from WordPress
– CMS for /shop is within e4 (i.e. catalog pages, product list, product detail, checkout, etc)
– To provide menu integration between e4 catalog and WordPress will require exposing category hierarchy from e4 in an API and consuming this in a custom plugin for WordPress
